Materials from Above Rubies Reviewed

Hi everyone. I trust that the Lord is leading you and guiding you in His ways this summer. I wanted to highlight a few resource materials from Above Rubies in the next few blog entries. Today, there are 2 dvds I want to mention. The first is called The Family Meal Table. I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s such a great resource that I mention it here again. Nancy Campbell (Above Rubies) clearly explains the importance of the family meal table. Making the meal table a priority is her vision. Although Nancy does most of the teaching, there are wonderful clips of various families who explain how the family is fed physically and spiritually at the family meal table. If you’re wondering how to begin implementing this too often lost way of life, you will want to get this. I have a couple copies for sale, but you may check the Above Rubies website as well. The second dvd is called Rejuvenate with Serene and focuses on the basics of healthy eating. This can be enjoyed by the whole family and is available from Above Rubies. Serene is one of Nancy Campbell’s daughters. There are recipes included and an interview with Nancy Campbell. You will enjoy seeing Serene at work in her kitchen preparing different dishes and discussing the importance of healthy eating.

In Sunday School we’ve been viewing the Francis Schaeffer video series “How Shall We Then Live“. Fantastic. Concise. Very clear evaluation of what’s been going on over the centuries.

I’m thankful I can see this series again after having seen it in college, and several years ago in Sunday School. I was challenged to search the Scripture for verses pertaining to influencing culture. Here are some verses I found:

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle…

Genesis 2:15 Then the Lord god took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

Psalm 8:6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; you have put all things under his feet.

Job 14:15 You shall call, and I will answer you; you shall desire the work of your hands.

Psalm 104:23 Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening.

Psalm 101:3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
